This Powdered Extraction (P.E.) from Griffonia simplicifolia Seeds is assayed by the manufacturer to be 98.49% 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan). You will receive a sealed and labeled heavy duty 4 mil polyethylene bag containing 100 grams of this off-white (light gray) powder product. One hundred grams is also 100 grams, or approximately 3.527 ounces by weight. You won't receive the fancy retail packaging, but you will receive a great deal at or below wholesale prices for a high purity bulk quantity of this product. For accurate dosing of this product use an accurate sub-gram (or milligram) weight scale, or consult the Bulk Density volumetric table below only if you have calibrated (verified accurate by volume) measuring spoons.

Recommended doses for 5-HTP vary considerably from the published scientific literature and from various manufacturers, sometimes ranging between as little as 50mg to as much as 600mg per day. However, as little as 100mg to 200mg per day has been shown clinically effective in increasing brain serotonin levels. If you suffer from severe depression or anxiety talk to your physician before taking 5-HTP. A commonly recommended dose for 5-HTP is 200mg (but not exceeding 600mg) per day. If you are considering taking more than 365mg per day (about 1 level 1/8th teaspoon by volumetric measure, see green table below), talk to your physician or health practice professional.

Occasional side effects from 5-HTP supplementation include gastric upset, hypomania (a mild form of mania, characterized by hyperactivity and feelings of well-being), and euphoria.
