Betaine HCL (Trimethylglycine) Food Grade Powder, 1 kilogram
    This food grade Betaine HCL (Trimethylglycine) is a pure bulk powder characteristic of the as manufactured very fine white granular crystals. You will receive a labeled heavy-duty 4 mil polyethylene bag containing 1000 grams (2.2 pounds) of this product. One kilogram is also one thousand grams, or 1000 grams, or approximately 2.205 pounds, or approximately 35.274 ounces by weight. You won't receive the fancy retail packaging, but you will receive a great deal at or below wholesale prices for a high purity bulk quantity of this product.

    Betaine HCL, also called Trimethylglycine, or TMG, is an N-trimethylated form of the amino acid Glycine with a chemical structure similar to choline and is produced from sugar beets. Betaine HCL differs remarkably in taste from Betaine Anhydrous, which we also sell at our PureBulk Nutrition store. Whereas Betain HCL is highly acidic and extremely sour tasting, Betaine Anhydrous has a relatively mild pleasant taste (almost sweet). Besides the taste, the principle difference between this HCL and the Anhydrous versions is the fact that the HCL, because of its highly acidic nature, may be used as a digestive aid while the Anhydrous may not. Betaine HCL has a wide variety of uses and applications including:

    1. Persons with insufficient stomach acid production may use Betaine HCL as a digestive aid.

    2. Persons with abnormally high homocysteine levels may find Betaine HCL an effective treatment.

    3. Betaine HCL may also be an effective mood enhancer in acting as a methyl donor and thereby increasing SAMe levels.

    4. Betaine (trimethylglycine) is believed to play a role in and may be helpful in enhancing the human production of the amino acid Carnitine.

    5. Betaine HCL is frequently used as a feeding stimulant in farmed fish and as an attractant in game fish bait.

    6. This food grade Betaine HCL is suitable for human consuption and has a highly sour and acidic taste but mixes and disolves readily with water and tastes similar to an artificial lemonade when sweetened with sugar or a sugar substitute.
