Details

Calcium is a chelate of citric acid and the essential mineral, calcium. Calcium citrate supplies calcium, the most abundant mineral in the human body and citric acid, both vital components of healthy metabolic function. In the body, calcium acts as a cell signalling messenger and serves many functions in neurological processes. In addition, calcium is a component of many structural proteins such as bone and cartilage.

Citric acid is notable for being a component of the citric acid cycle, a series of chemical reactions used by all aerobic organisms to generate energy through the oxidization of acetate derived from carbohydrates, fats and proteins into carbon dioxide.

Supplementation of calcium with citric acid may help support healthy bone structure and metabolic function.

Suggested Use
As a dietary supplement, take 2380 mg (3/4 tsp) once or twice daily with meals, or as directed by physician.

The FDA recommends a Daily Value(DV) of 1000 mg of calcium. A serving of 2400 mg calcium citrate, yielding 500 mg calcium, will provide 50% of the Daily Value for adults and children four or more years of age.

The FDA recommends the following Daily Intake Values of Calcium: Infants, 600mg; children Less than 4 years of age, 800 mg; pregnant and lactating women, 1300 mg.

DO NOT take calcium citrate or antacids containing calcium without first talking to your doctor if you are currently taking other medications.
