Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)

DHEA is a steroid hormone precursor nutritional supplement. product. This is an ultra fine micronized (less than 50 microns particle size) white powder nutritional raw material with no additives, fillers or anticaking agents included. You will receive a sealed labeled bulk polyethylene bag containing 25 grams of this pure bulk powder product. Twenty five grams is also 25 grams, or approximately 0.882 ounces by weight. DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is the adrenal hormone precursor for numerous hormones such as testosterone and estrogen. DHEA is the most abundant naturally occuring hormone precursor in the human body and is not water soluble. However, this micronized form has an extremely small particle size of 50 microns that facilitates assimilation and absorption when taken internally or sublingually. This DHEA has a mildly bitter taste and should be taken with meals or sublingually for increased absorption. Many claim that DHEA dissolved in alcohol and taken sublingual may have two to four times the absorption as when ingested in capsules or powder.

Recommended doses for DHEA when taken internally generally vary between 25 and 200 milligrams per day, although some clinical studies have indicated beneficial results with doses of up to 500 milligrams per day and higher. However, daily doses higher than 200 milligrams of this micronized DHEA and DHEA alcohol solutions are generally considered to be extreme and should only be taken under the direct supervision and advice of a physician or health practice professional.

Topical preparations for DHEA usually involve between 5% and 10% DHEA by weight and include ethyl alcohol and an oil, like olive oil. DHEA is not water soluble but will readily dissolve in ethyl alcohol and can then be mixed or blended with an oil or oil based cream for topical administration.

DHEA Side Effects: There have been numerous side effects reported in scientific literature and by regular users of DHEA that you should both research and consider before taking DHEA. Because DHEA is a precursor for many androgenic hormones, DHEA may in rare cases promote hair loss, especially in men. Because DHEA is believed to increase dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels, as well as increase testosterone levels, and because DHT is believed to play a major roll in hair loss among the aged, hair loss may be experienced as a side effect of DHEA supplementation. DHEA may cause increased acne in some people. DHEA supplementation may also cause menstrual irregularities for some women and may also increase facial hair. DHEA has been know to increase estrogen levels in a few men which in turn can cause an increase in undesirable feminine characteristics. Other side effects of DHEA may include irritability and restlessness.
