Brand Name(s) for Ferrous Gluconate include: Feosol™ and Fer-In-Sol™. This Ferrous Gluconate Powder is assayed by the manufacturer to be 98.7% product. You will receive a sealed and labeled heavy duty 4 mil polyethylene bag containing 500 grams of this light green powder. Five hundred grams is also 500 grams, or approximately 1.102 pounds, or approximately 17.637 ounces by weight. You won't receive the fancy retail packaging, but you will receive a great deal at or below wholesale prices for a high purity bulk quantity of this product. Ferrous Gluconate Powder has a characteristically irony (or rusty mineral like) taste and is also somewhat sour. Ferrous Gluconate Powder does not readily dissolve in water by it will suspend into a somewhat cloudy mixture when stirred. Just measure and stir your usual dose into water or juice and drink.

    Ferrous Gluconate is a salt of gluconic acid and elemental iron. As an ionic compound, Ferrous Gluconate consists of one atom of iron for every two molecules of gluconate (glucose). Ferrous Gluconate is a popular iron supplement because of its high bioavailability (high bioavailability) and gentleness on the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

    Commonly prescribed and Over-The-Counter (OTC) doses for Ferrous Gluconate are 246mg (28mg elemental iron), 300mg (35mg elemental iron) and 325mg (38mg elemental iron). Bear in mind that the elemental iron content of Ferrous Gluconate powder is about 11.67% such that for a 1/16th teaspoon (approximately 225 milligrams) Ferrous Gluconate Powder the net elemental iron will be approximately 26 milligrams. For best results take one level to one slightly rounded 1/16 teaspoon between or with meals once at most twice per day.

    Occasional Side Effects and Syptoms: Ferrous Gluconate supplementation can occasionally result in side effects that include constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach ache, gastric upset, black or dark-colored stools, dark urine, or temporary staining of the teath.
