Fructo Oligosaccharide, 500 grams

This food grade pure bulk powder saccharide fiber, Fructo Oligosaccharide, is assayed by the manufacturer to be 50.3% GF2 (1-kestose), GF3 (nystose), and GF4 (1F-ß-fructofuranosyl nystose), (GF: G=Glucose and F=Fructose). You will receive a sealed and labeled heavy-duty 4 mil polyethylene bag containing 500 grams of this white powder product. Five hundred grams is also 500 grams, or approximately 1.102 pounds, or approximately 17.637 ounces by weight. You won't receive the fancy retail packaging, but you will receive a great deal at or below wholesale prices for a high purity bulk quantity of this product. This product dissolves quickly in water and has sweet taste, like sugar (sucrose), but only about half the sweetness. Just mix your usual dose with water, a hot beverage, or juice and drink.

Fructo Oligosaccharide (Fructooligosaccharide, or FOS) are short-chain polysaccharides conprised of D-Fructose and D-Glucose and are a naturally sweet mostly non-digestible and low-caloric fiber. FOS is sometimes blended with high-intensity artificial or natural sweeteners, such as Stevia P.E., thereby imporving the overall sweetness profile, perception, and tending to reduce many unpleasant aftertastes. As a prebiotic, FOS serves as a substrate for many beneficial bacteria species in the large intestine and helps to improve overall gastrointestianal tract function and health. FOS is also frequently taken as a supplement to combat yeast infections. As a sweetener, FOS is about half as sweet as sucrose and with less than 1 calorie ber gram (about 2.5 calories per level teaspoon). As a prebiotic FOS can selectively promote the proliferation of many intestinal probiotics including bifidobacteria.
