What is L-Arginine Ethyl Ester?

L-arginine ethyl ester is the amino acid L-arginine with an ester attached. Esters are organic compounds formed by the reaction of carboxylic acid and alcohols. The presence of an ester make the ergogenic effects of arginine ethyl ester more pronounced. Increased absorption rates reduce the need for large serving sizes.

The presence of an ester may also prolong the generation of nitric oxide extending the exercise benefits of arginine over a greater time period.

Arginine stimulates and strengthens the immune system by increasing the production of T lymphocytes (T-cells) (Wikipedia) from the thymus gland. Arginine is essential for the production of urea, required to eliminate toxic ammonia from the body during urination. Apart from getting rid of waste efficiently, L-arginine is an important amino acid for both protein synthesis and production of other amino acids.

Arginine serves as a precursor for manufacturing not only proteins but also nitric oxide, urea, glutamate, and creatine. It can be metabolized to nitric oxide (NO) (Wikipedia), which dilate and engorge blood vessels leading to various parts of the body, including mescle.

Health Benefits of L-Arginine Ethyl Ester

L-arginine is best known for its effects and benefits on the vascular system. The body utilizes arginine to manufacture nitric oxide, which in turn helps to relax and keep blood vessels dilated and helping the body receive adequate oxygen. Additionally, L-arginine helps protect the liver, which makes the immune system’s job easier.

Large concentrations of arginine are found in the skin and the amino acid plays a key role in the health of the body’s connective tissues, particularly muscles.

Arginine helps the body process creatine, a natural substance that aids exercise performance. It also helps process nitrogen, needed for muscle metabolism.

Many common foods such as chocolate, coconut, dairy products, brown rice, raisins, almonds, barley, cashews, cereals, chicken, gelatin, meat, oats, peanuts, soybeans, walnuts, white flour, wheat and wheat germ contain large amounts of arginine.

Arginine supplements should be considered by those with health issues that may deplete arginine or those looking to support a strenuous exercise regimen.

Common Effects of L-Arginine Ethyl Ester

First isolated in 1886, it was not until 1932 when scientists learned that L-arginine is needed to create urea, a waste product that is necessary for toxic ammonia to be removed from the body.

In 1939, researchers discovered that L-arginine is also necessary to manufacture creatine. Creatine supplements are used by athletes attempting to improve sports performance. Arginine helps slow creatine breakdown.

PureBulk sells several creatine supplements, including Creatine Monohydrate, Creatine Ester Malate, Creatine Gluconate, Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL and Dicreatine Malate.

Purity and Concentration of L-Arginine Ethyl Ester

L-arginine ethyl ester powder contains no fillers, taste additives or anti-caking agents.

Suggested use of L-Arginine Ethyl Ester

The suggested serving size for L-arginine ethyl ester is 500 milligrams to 2400 milligrams (2.4 grams) taken once or twice a day, on an empty stomach. Individual needs vary. You can see the full bulk density/volumetric conversion chart for L-Arginine Ethyl Ester here. A serving size of 1/4 teaspoon is equal to 611 milligrams (mg). A serving size of 1 level teaspoon will provide just about 2.4 grams.

Potential Side Effects of L-Arginine Ethyl Ester

Arginine is free of side effects when used at suggested serving sizes. Minor digestive disturbances occur infrequently. Larger serving sizes of Arginine can increase stomach acid.

Arginine may affect potassium levels, especially in people with liver disease. People with kidney problems and those who take ACE inhibitors or potassium-sparing diuretics should not use supplemental arginine unless they are under medical supervision.

This product is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Caution: Do not use arginine products if you are taking MAO's, blood pressure or erectile dysfunction medication (such as Viagra.)

Bioavailability, Mixing and Solubility of L-Arginine Ethyl Ester

The ester compound of L-Arginine cannot be obtained through the diet and must be obtained through supplementation.

This product dissolves quickly in hot water and somewhat more slowly in cold water. Mix with a strongly flavored beverage or citrus juice before drinking.
