What is L-Proline?

Proline is a nonessential amino acid and one of the main components of collagen (Wikipedia), which makes up about 90% of connective tissue in the body.

Collagen is a major structural component of cells. It is the protein responsible in forming connective fibers in tissues such as skin, ligaments, cartilage, bones and teeth.

Functioning like an intracellular glue, it provides support, shape and bulk to blood vessels, bones and organs such as the heart, kidneys and liver. Collagen fibers keep bones and blood vessels strong and assist in anchoring teeth to the gums. Collagen is also needed for the repair of blood vessels, bruises and broken bones.

Proline, lysine and Vitamin C are all essential for the formation of healthy collagen and cartilage

Although L-proline is synthesized by the human body, at times the amount produced may be inadequate. Proline can be derived from animal products such as dairy products, eggs, beef and poultry. Vegetarians should consider proline supplementation, as it is derived mainly from animal products.

The amino acid is also used for energy production. Proline is often included in sports drinks made for athletes like weightlifters and bodybuilders

Health Benefits of L-Proline

L-proline plays an important role in the synthesis of collagen, the most abundant protein in the human body. Collagen is the principal protein and building block for the construction of all human connective tissues including skin, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, joints and bone as well as blood vessels, arteries, veins and lymph vessels.

A reduction in proline levels have been observed following prolonged exercise.

Purity and Concentration of L-Proline

The pharmaceutical-grade amino acid in these capsules is the most basic form without any additional chemical groups attached. These vegetarian capsules are made of cellulose. They contain no additives, fillers or anti-caking agents. Please note: Here at Purebulk, we do NOT use fillers in making our capsules, so the quantity in each capsule periodically changes from batch to batch.

Suggested Use of L-Proline

As a dietary supplement, take three 550 milligram capsules once or twice daily, or as directed by a physician.

Potential Side Effects of L-Proline

L-proline is safe when taken at suggested serving sizes. Those with liver or kidney disease should not take this or any other amino acid supplement without first consulting a physician. Getting too much of any one amino acid can throw the citric acid cycle out of balance, making the liver and kidneys work harder to eliminate toxins. Supplementing the other amino acids should be considered while taking this amino acid.

How should I store it?

You will receive a resealable bag of these capsules. Store in a cool, dry area protected from light. Reseal after each use.
