L-Arginine HCL & L-Ornithine HCL Blended Product (2:1), 1 kilogram
These blended pharmaceutical grade amino acids, L-Arginine HCL and L-Ornithine HCL, are assayed by the manufacturer to be 99.46% product and 99.2% product respectively. You will receive a sealed and labeled heavy duty 4 mil polyethylene bag containing 1 kilogram of this blended white powder product consisting of 667 grams L-Arginine HCL and 333 grams L-Ornithine HCL (representing a 2 parts L-Arginine HCL to 1 part L-Ornithine HCL blend which is the standard blend ratio for these products). One kilogram is also 1,000 grams, or approximately 2.2 pounds, or approximately 35.37 ounces by weight. You won't receive the fancy retail packaging, but you will receive a great deal at or below wholesale prices for a high purity bulk quantity of this blended amino acid product. This product dissolves quickly in water and has a slightly sour taste, but not bad at all! Just mix your usual dose with water or juice and drink.

The typical recommended dose for this product varies between as little as 1 grams per day to as much as 10 grams (and sometimes more) per day, depending upon your nutritional needs and goals. For healthy heart and cardiovascular health a dose of about 3 grams per day should be sufficient for most people. You may elect to divide your dose in 2 or 3 doses taken per day. Athletes involved in performance sports will usually find that that the optimal daily dose will be between 5 and 10 grams per day. Body builders and weight lifters can often benefit from higher maximally optimal doses of between 10 grams and 20 grams per day. As with all types of intended uses for this supplement, dividing your dose into 2 or three doses per day will help to maximize your benefit and minimize the occasional side effects.

Symptoms and/or side effects from Arginine-Ornithine overuse may include gastric upset (stomach ache), restlessness and insomnia. Some individuals will occasionally experience one or more of these side effects when taking higher than recommended doses, and occasionally these symptoms may be experienced with dosing within the recommended ranges. If you experience any of these symptoms or side-effects following ingestion of this product you should reduce your dose or stop taking this product and consult your physician about your symptoms. The effectiveness of these amino acids are slightly improved when taken while fasting, however, symptoms and side effects should they occur may be more pronounced when fasting.

L-Arginine and L-Ornithine are two amino acids that work synergistically to promote nitric oxide synthesis by the hepatic and systemic enzyme, nitric oxide Synthase (NOS). For this blended product the base forms of these amino acids have been modified to include a small HCL (hydrochloride, sometimes abbreviated HCl). The addition of this HCl group to both amino acids reduces that pH of that amino acid in solution and significantly improves the taste of the bulk powder.

The amino acid L-Arginine (hydrochloride), has several nutritional uses including the promoting of synthesis of nitric oxide by the enzymes eNOS, iNOS, and nNOS (endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase, inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase, and neural Nitric Oxide Synthase). Other important benefits of L-Arginine supplementation include the promotion protein synthesis as well as the promotion of healthy immune function.

L-Ornithine (hydrochloride) has many nutritional benefits and used including its serving as a feedback inhibitor of the hepatic and systemic enzyme arginase. Supplementation with L-Ornithine can significantly increase blood levels of L-Arginine through the feed-back inhibition of arginase. Arginase is a major metabolic pathway for the conversion of L-Arginine to L-Ornithine and because of the physiological feedback inhibition increased blood levels of L-Ornithine can significantly reduce metabolic activity of arginase allowing L-Arginase blood levels to rise significantly higher than would otherwise be possible without L-Ornithine supplementation. But L-Ornithine supplementation is believed to have many benefits other than merely boosting L-Arginine blood levels. L-Ornithine supplementation is believed by researchers to reduce the ammonia accumulation during strenuous exercise and also helps to reduce brain ammonia levels. When taken at bedtime L-Ornithine promotes ease of sleep onset and enhances sleep quality and rested state awareness upon arousal.
