Details

Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a member of the radish family native in the Andes mountains of South America. It’s Spanish and Quechua names include maca-maca, maino, ayak chichira, and ayak willku.

Maca root contains numerous amino acids and essential minerals, including potassium, selenium, magnesium, iron and calcium.

Maca root has been touted as Peruvian ginseng, although it is in no way related to ginseng. The comparison comes because maca plant and its root powder has a reputation for boosting strength and energy. It has been used in traditional medicine - which often uses natural herbs and nutrients to support health - in efforts to increase sexual desire and address sexual dysfunction.

For more than two thousand years, native Peruvians have used maca as food and medicine, to promote endurance and to improve energy, vitality, sexual virility and fertility. Inca warriors consumed maca before going into battle as they believed it rendered them fiercely strong by increasing their vitality and stamina. During Spanish colonization maca was used as currency by Peruvians using the herb to pay taxes to conquistadors.

FAQ
I have been taking Maca Magic Powder (thru Swanson's Vitamins item #MAM001). It is listed as whole root on the label. Is yours a mix of whole root and extract or all extract? If so,if I am taking theirs at 3000mg a day, could I just take 1 serving of 1000mg & be at the same level. 3 servings would seem to equal 12000mg of my current product. Is this raw or cooked? Which is better & what are the advantages of each? Is this gelatinized? What is gelatinized? Is gelatinzed Maca raw, cooked, or concentrate like yours or whole root as what I'm now using? I've been reading about these differences and could use specifics and clarifications of possible. Thank you.
The Maca Root Powder Extract 4:1 is all extract, so 1000mg is equal to 4000mg, taken 3 times a day is equivalent to 12,000mg. Our Maca Root is not cooked, and it is not gelatinized. The gelatinized form of maca is heated and all of the starch is removed, which is supposed to be more gentle on the stomach. If you have any further questions please e-mail me.

Provides energy!
Amazing maca powder, when I take it few days in a row I feel constant energy and stimulation, but not over-stimulation and no crash. It's hard for me to stay still. It gives great stamina and makes me horny if I over indulge. Great product
