Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) is a water-soluble essential micronutrient which is converted into an enzymatic cofactor, pyridoxine-5-phosphate, important to biological metabolism.
Vitamin B6 is made up of three related compounds, all of which can be found in varying quantities in food: pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine. Pyridoxine is the form used in vitamin supplements because it is the least expensive to produce commercially.
