RS-Alpha Lipoic Acid Powder, 100 grams
    This pharmaceutical grade RS-Alpha Lipoic Acid Powder is assayed by the manufacturer to be 99.52% product. You will receive a sealed and labeled heavy duty 4 mil polyethylene bag containing 100 grams of this bright yellow crystalline powder product. One hundred grams is also 100 grams, or approximately 3.527 ounces by weight. You won't receive the fancy retail packaging, but you will receive a great deal at or below wholesale prices for a high purity bulk quantity of this product.

    RS-Alpha Lipoic Acid is sometimes referred to as Alpha Lipoic Acid or more simply as ALA and is also sometimes called Thioctic Acid. ALA is a powerful antioxidant demonstrated to increase glutathione production which can help general liver detoxification functions. ALA is found in meat and many fresh vegetables such as spinach and other green leafy vegetables. After ingestion ALA readily enters blood circulation and freely crosses the blood brain barrier. This ALA is a racemic mixture of approximately 50% R-enantiomer and 50% S-enantiomer which are chemical mirror images of each other. This ALA is also a pure pharmaceutical grade product as manufactured with no fillers or anti-caking agents added. Reserchers belive that only the R-enantiomer of ALA is biologically active, but the S-enantiomer is believed to assist in the reduction of the R-enantiomer when this racemic mixture is taken as a nutrional supplement.

    RS-Alpha Lipoic Acid is believed to have few if any side effects when taken in the commonly recommended dose, usually between 50mg and 100mg per dose and two or three doses per day. Higher doses can cause nausea and gastric upset. Many health practice professionals recommend ALA for the treatment and prevention of age-related diseases, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cataracts. ALA may have synergistic effects on some medications so if have diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson's disease, or Alzheimer's disease you should talk to your doctor or health practice professional before taking ALA.
