This pure stevia extract is derived from Stevia rebaudiana, an herb in the chrysanthemum family that is native to parts of South America. Stevia, which contains steviosides, is widely consumed as a dietary supplement as a sugar alternative that can be mixed with other sweet natural products, such as honey. It is heat stable and can be used for cooking and baking. Our pure Stevia 95% powder is standardized to contain at least 95% steviosides and is more than 300 times as sweet as sugar. Steviosides are not processed by the body in the same way as sugar and effectively net zero calories. Pure stevia extract may be used as a sugar-alternative by those who need to reduce their caloric intake by replacement of sugar.
