Xylitol Granulated Sugar, 1 kilogram
This food grade granular sugar Xylitol Powder is assayed by the manufacturer at 99.2% product. You will receive a double sealed labeled bulk polyethylene bag containing 1 kilogram of this white powder product. One kilogram is also one thousand grams, or 1000 grams, or approximately 2.205 pounds, or approximately 35.274 ounces by weight. You will not receive the fancy retail packaging, but you will receive a great deal at or below wholesale prices for a high purity bulk quantity of this product. This product dissolves somewhat slowly in water and tastes very much like sugar (with the same sweetness as sucrose) and with no bitterness or aftertaste.

Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar present in such foods as berries, some vegetables, and mushrooms. Even though xylitol is not technically a sugar, because chemically it is a sugar alcohol, xylitol certainly does taste like sugar. xylitol differs from most other natural sugars because unlike sucrose, sorbitol, fructose and glucose, a xylitol molecule has 5 carbon atoms. Because the bacteria that usually reside in the mouth can't make use of xylitol is frequently used to sweeten chewing gums and candy and is considered to be a sugar that does not promote tooth decay (dental caries). Xylitol is a low-calorie sugar having 40% fewer calories than sugar (sucrose) and is absorbed more slowly than sugar such that it doesn't significantly raise blood sugar levels and is sometimes used as a sweetener by diabetics. While xylitol is considered safe at even very high doses of 400 grams per day, high doses can have mild laxative effects in humans. While there is no known human toxicity for xylitol even at extremely high doses, dogs may have serious and life threatening consequences when ingesting more than a few grams of xylitol.
The wholesale price of Xylitol has increased at least 200% in just the last 6 to 12 months and wholesale prices are expected to continue to rise through 2008 and well into 2009. There are several reasons for xylitol's wholesale price increase including the falling value of the US Dollar and as well as production controls imposed upon China manufacturers by the Chinese government. We acquired my xylitol inventory before much of the recent price increase went into effect but when my current xylitol inventory runs out and we are forced to buy xylitol at current market prices we also will be forced to significantly raise our prices. If you can find a better price for xylitol my advice is to stock up.
