Inositol (Vitamin B8) is a water-soluble nutrient that supports the formation and maintenance of healthy cells.
Inositol is important as a derivative of cell membrane compounds, such as phosphatidylinositol, as well as a number of signaling and secondary messenger molecules. Inositol was formerly classified as a vitamin but was discovered to be a non-essential nutrient because it can be synthesized by intestinal bacteria within the body from glucose.
