Product Details

What is Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a polyphenolic antioxidant found in red wine, the skin of red grapes, certain berries, and peanuts. Grape skin and seeds have the highest concentration of resveratrol, which explains why red wine has significant amounts of resveratrol. Resveratrol has several beneficial properties, such as promoting bone health, supporting weight loss, supporting heart health, and potentially enhancing longevity.

Why Trans-Resveratrol?

Pure Bulk's Resveratrol powder is standardized to contain at least 98% trans-resveratrol and is derived from Polygonum cuspidatum, also known as Japanese Knotweed. Resveratrol has two isomers: cis-resveratrol and trans-resveratrol. Of the two, trans-resveratrol exhibits greater bioactivity.

Potential Resveratrol Benefits

Many individuals take resveratrol supplements for their potential to improve longevity. While resveratrol doesn’t enhance lifespan, it may protect against some health issues related to aging (i.e., supporting bone health, preserving muscle mass, and protecting cognitive functions). As a result, resveratrol may improve the relative quality of health over an individual’s lifetime rather than the duration of it.

Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant that protects against oxidative stress. It also has neuroprotective properties that may support cognitive health. Its anti-inflammatory properties may protect brain cells as well.

Resveratrol supplements may support heart health through several mechanisms. Resveratrol helps to preserve the agents responsible for vasorelaxation, such as acetylcholine and nitric oxide. It also exerts cardioprotective properties by scavenging free radicals and reducing vascular oxidative stress. Resveratrol may benefit heart health by supporting weight loss and reducing inflammatory markers.

Resveratrol’s anti-inflammatory properties may support healthy joints by protecting them from damage. It also has the potential to prevent cartilage from breaking down, which is a significant source of joint pain.

Resveratrol Supplement Interactions and Synergy

Resveratrol and Quercetin

Both of these supplements support heart health and possess anti-inflammatory properties. Taken together, these benefits are much more notable, particularly for protecting blood vessels and inhibiting the formation of fat cells.

Resveratrol and Curcumin

Resveratrol synergizes with curcumin to enhance both supplements’ anti-inflammatory properties, which provides greater cartilage protection in the joints.

Resveratrol and Melatonin

Resveratrol and melatonin both possess antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. These supplements synergize to enhance these functions. Combining these supplements may offer greater cardioprotective effects as well.

Potential Resveratrol Side Effects

Most individuals tolerate resveratrol supplements well. Some individuals may experience mild intestinal upset or nausea. Resveratrol may prevent blood clotting when taken with anti-clotting medication or certain pain relievers. This product may interact with certain medications. Consult with a physician before taking new supplements.
