This essential amino acid DL-Methionine is assayed by the manufacturer to be 99.6% pure bulk nutritional powder. You will receive a sealed and labeled heavy duty 4 mil polyethylene bag containing 500 grams of this white powder product. Five hundred grams is also 500 grams, or approximately 1.102 pounds, or approximately 17.637 ounces by weight. DL-Methionine is an essential amino acid, meaning that it must be consumed in the diet and because it is not produced in human physiology in significant amounts. DL-Methionine is required by the body to synthesize SAMe (pronounced "Sammy" or S-adenosylmethionine), a naturally occuring substance believed to have mood elevating effects. Many researchers also believe that taking DL-Methionine is helpful in the treatment of both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. DL-Methionine is believed to help the body stabilize mast cells and inhibit histamine release, often associated with arthritic pain and discomfort.

Commonly recommended doses for DL-Methionine usually range between 250 and 1000 milligrams per dose taken from 2 to 4 times per day, not to exceed 4 grams per day. DL-Methionine has a somewhat mild flavor, slightly sweet and slightly bitter, but not terrible. DL-Methionine dissolves quickly in hot water, but will not dissolve readily in cold water.
