Casein protein is a slow digesting protein derived from cow's milk and used by body builders for the muscle recovery after workouts. The amino acids from casein are digested more slowly than other proteins such as whey and provide a slow, steady flow of amino acids to the blood stream for hours. It is often taken at bedtime when your muscles are repairing and recovering from the day's workout.
Micellar casein is the "Gold Standard" for casein. Unlike the lower quality sodium or calcium caseinates, the protein is not denatured and will be slower to break down in the gut than the caseinates.
