Whey protein is a blend of proteins separated from whey, the liquid that remains after coagulating milk to produce cheese. Cow’s milk contains 80% casein protein and 20% whey protein. Whey protein digests faster than casein protein, which makes whey protein ideal as a post-workout supplement. Faster digestion allows the proteins and amino acids to start repairing and rebuilding muscles straight away. In contrast, slower-digesting casein is optimal before fasting periods of rest, such as before bed.
PureBulk’s whey protein isolate is a cold, micro-filtered powder produced in the USA. It is standardized to contain at least 90% pure whey protein. It is also rich in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs).
The primary difference between whey and isolate is the protein content. Whey protein concentrate powders contain around 80% protein by weight, whereas whey protein isolate powders contain at least 90% protein by weight.
