Product Details

Restful, restorative sleep is critical for your health, but many people are in a chronic sleep deficit. Catching up on sleep isn’t as easy as it sounds, either. Taking a nap or sleeping in on the weekends isn’t enough to overcome a workweek’s worth of sleep debt. Recovering one hour of lost sleep can take up to four days, and it takes up to nine days to get out of a sleep deficit (1).

Insufficient sleep can lead to significant health concerns. Sleep debt can adversely affect how a person performs at school, work, and while driving. Falling short on sleep can also lead to problems with heart health, metabolism, and immune function (2).

What is Clif High’s Pure Sleep?

Clif High's PureSleep is a proprietary blend of ingredients created to promote restorative sleep. This non-habit-forming sleep aid is gentle with no hang-over effects the following day. The formula promotes digestive well-being and facilitates a smooth entry to sleep. Waking fresh and energized for the day ahead with every use, the Pure Sleep formula will not build up in the system nor affect daytime performance.

Fall Asleep Faster with Pure Sleep

Most people don’t purposely skimp on sleep. Work and family responsibilities can take time away from available sleep hours. Stress also interferes with sleep and can result in a restless night of tossing and turning. Clif High’s Pure Sleep may help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep so you can wake up feeling restored and well-rested.

Pure Sleep Ingredients: A Sleep Aid Without Melatonin

Melatonin is a well-known sleep aid, but it isn’t right for everyone. Melatonin is excellent at regulating circadian rhythm when an individual’s internal clock is no longer in sync with its natural light-dark sleep cycle—most often due to jetlag or shiftwork. Melatonin also decreases with age, so the elderly may find relief with melatonin.

However, melatonin isn’t a good solution for chronic sleeplessness. Persistent sleep issues may worsen with long-term melatonin use. The human body responds to consistent daily melatonin use either by building a resistance or becoming reliant on it.

Clif High developed Pure Sleep as an alternative for individuals looking for a sleep aid without melatonin. Pure Sleep’s ingredients include:

Did You Know?

Sleep efficiency is the percentage of time spent asleep divided by the total time spent in bed. For example, if you sleep seven out of eight hours spent in bed, your sleep efficiency is 87.5%. Optimal sleep efficiency is 85% or higher.
    • Magnesium (as Magnesium Glycinate and Magnesium Citrate). Magnesium is an abundant mineral found in the body and many foods. It may improve subjective measures of sleep quality, such as a faster onset of sleep and sleep efficiency (3). Magnesium may also improve objective sleep quality (3). Magnesium increases GABA availability (4).
    • Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. Activating GABA receptors encourages sleep (5). GABA may reduce the time it takes to fall asleep and improve sleep efficiency (6). GABA may also be able to reduce stress (7, 8, 9).
    • Ellagic Acid. Ellagic acid is a polyphenol extracted from pomegranates. It helps take the ‘P’ out of sleep by reducing nighttime trips to the bathroom (10). It exerts antioxidant effects by protecting cells by scavenging free radicals and reducing oxidative stress (11). Ellagic acid also helps regulate the immune system and reduce inflammation, common side effects of sleep disturbances (12, 13, 14).
    • Myristicin. Myristicin is the main active compound found in nutmeg oil (15, 16). Myristicin facilitates better sleep by reducing stress enzyme activity and improving mood (15, 17). Nutmeg also contains macelignan, which has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties (18).
    • Sunflower Lecithin. Lecithin is an emulsifier that helps improve the bioavailability of nutmeg oil in whole milk (19).
    • Mogroside-V. Monk fruit extracts owe their sweetness to mogroside antioxidants. People most often use monk fruit extracts as a zero-calorie sweetener. However, this melon also has anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce oxidative stress (20, 21).
    • Tricalcium Phosphate. Tricalcium phosphate forms when calcium binds to a phosphate molecule. Calcium may help individuals stay asleep for longer (22). Magnesium helps transport calcium ions across cell membranes for better absorption (23).
    • Betanin. Betanin is a red beet root extract that exerts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects (24, 25). It helps protect cells by scavenging free radicals (25). It’s also an effective antimicrobial (26).

How to Take Pure Sleep

Clif High’s Pure Sleep contains fat-soluble ingredients and mixes best with whole milk. Mixing with low-fat milk or milk substitutes is possible but less effective. One hour before bedtime, mix 4 oz of milk with 2200mg (one 3.0ML scoop). Let it stand for three to four minutes, then gently stir for 20 seconds. Some individuals may experience a tingling sensation in the skin.
