Product Details

Turkey tail mushroom extract comes from a polypore mushroom known as Trametes versicolor. It also goes by the names Coriolus versicolor and Polyporus versicolor. The general meaning of Trametes versicolor is ‘of several colors.’ Its distinct coloration is reminiscent of a wild turkey, which makes identifying turkey tail mushrooms in the wilderness rather easy. Turkey tail mushrooms form in thin, leathery concentric circles and often resemble leaves in shape. As an extract, turkey tail mushroom powder may provide several benefits.

What is Turkey Tail Extract?

Turkey tail mushrooms may convey several benefits, but taking a bite out of one won’t do much good by itself. Turkey tail mushroom extract is much more potent than consuming the mushroom, and it’s a much more convenient and reliable method of experiencing results. Every dose of turkey tail mushroom powder contains a concentrated amount of the mushroom, which removes the guesswork of taking this supplement.

Potential Turkey Tail Mushroom Benefits

Individuals take turkey tail mushroom supplements for several reasons. Some of the most popular turkey tail mushroom extract uses include:

  • May support the immune system. Many studies have examined the link between turkey tail and immune health. Turkey tail mushrooms contain abundant amounts of beta-glucans PSP and PSK polysaccharides. PSP helps stimulate white blood cell production, while PSK helps regulate the immune response as well as help protect against toxins. Because of this, turkey tail extract may provide immune system support.
  • Rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants help fight against free radicals as well as reduce the damage they cause from oxidative stress. Turkey tail mushroom contains more than 30 phenolic antioxidants, which lends further credibility to turkey tails’ potential immune support benefits. Turkey tail extract may also help with inflammation due to its high antioxidant content.
  • May support a healthy gut. Gut health relies heavily on a good balance of bacteria. Too much or too little can wreak havoc on the immune system. Many people take prebiotics to help support good gut bacteria. As turkey tail extract is high in prebiotics, it may help promote good gut health.
  • May enhance athleticism. While more research is needed, animal studies show significant promise. Animals given turkey tail extract experienced improved exercise performance and reduced fatigue. Given those results, turkey tail extract may improve athletic performance.

Potential Turkey Tail Side Effects

Most individuals tolerate turkey tail mushroom supplements well. Some possible side effects include gas, bloating, and darkened stools while taking turkey tail mushroom powder. Some individuals also report a darkening of their fingernails.

Turkey Tail Mushroom Dosage

Take 1000mg of turkey tail mushroom extract twice per day for best results. Use a milligram scale to ensure an accurate measurement.
