What is Zinc L-Aspartate?

Zinc is an essential trace mineral that plays a role in more than 300 enzymatic functions and facilitates DNA transcription into RNA. It is one of the most abundant trace metals, second only to iron. Zinc is present everywhere in the body, but the majority exists in the brain, kidneys, liver, parts of the eye, bones, and muscles.

Zinc L-Aspartate is an ionic zinc salt bonded to the amino acid L-aspartic acid in the form of L-aspartate. Aspartic acid is a metabolic intermediate in several biochemical pathways in the body, including the tricarboxylic acid and urea cycles. Combining zinc with aspartic acid enhances its bioavailability and absorption.
